Position Summary
The Clinical Assistant Professor of Dental Medicine provides hands-on instruction, supervision, and evaluation of dental students in the clinical setting. This role supports high-quality patient care while fostering student growth in clinical reasoning, technical proficiency, professionalism, and patient-centered communication. Clinical faculty also participate in calibration, assessment, and continuous improvement of the clinical curriculum in alignment with the College of Dental Medicine’s mission.
Essential Responsibilities
- Supervise and evaluate dental students in clinical environments
- Promote excellence in patient care and clinical education
- Support student development in clinical judgment, skills, and professionalism
- Participate in calibration, assessment, and quality improvement initiatives
- Contribute to a collaborative, student-centered academic environment
Required Qualifications
- DDS, DMD, or equivalent dental degree from an accredited institution
- Eligibility for dental licensure or a faculty permit in the state of employment
- Clinical experience in general dentistry or a dental specialty
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching, clinical education, and patient care
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior teaching experience in a dental school or academic health center
- Experience with electronic health record systems (e.g., AxiUm)
- Familiarity with CODA accreditation standards
- Commitment to inclusive excellence and student success
